hauxinca: and then we can trade places, play musical graves, til they walk away, walk away, walk away

one foot in front of the other by bright eyes

now i know EVERYBODY knows bright eyes. but on account of the tour right now, i feel some sort of tribute is good.

this song is absolutely amazing. every line, my friends will mercilessly tease me for liking this "scene" band, however i can't help but enjoy the lyrical poetry.

"There's kids playin guns in the street,
and ones pointing his tree branch at me.
So, I put my hands up I say "enough is enough.
If you walk away, I'll walk away."
and then he shot me dead!"

Bright Eyes just played Monday night here in MA, too bad there was 3 feet of snow on the ground..

three feet of snow! you're so lucky. here in richmond, we only got a sheet of ice. and some "lovely" winds. i'm sure the car with the tree imprint loved the weather we've been having.

Er...I don't know Bright Eyes. o_O They sound interesting though.

Those are my thoughts exactly! I am in LOVE with that song. The lyrics are breathtaking. It's number 3 on my most played on itunes (topped only by the beatles and simon and garfunkel)

By the way, what do you think of "Landlocked Blues"? I prefer "One Foot in Front of the Other", but I think his voice sounds better on "Landlocked Blues".

i've not heard that one, yet, though i really want to. i heard from a couple of people that emmylou harris's voice is really obnoxious throughout, though.

"Landlocked Blues" is actually growing on me. It's certainly not as majestic, but it's got a nice gentle quality that makes it sounds kind of fragile. Emmylou's voice doesn't bother me.

Eep! Landlocked Blues. My heart loves that song. I can't quite figure out why, but I just love it. And I really like the song with the story at the beginning, At the Bottom of Everything. I really like I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, but I can't really get into Digital Ash. Hm. Before those two cds, I'd only heard one or two BE's songs.

oh yeah, that's been a pretty general concensus around the circle of my friends who are generally prone to listening to folk-y music. personally, i think digital ash is just as wonderful. in its own way, of course. it doesn't really sing me to sleep, but it has a pretty ring.
