My mother's friend wants me to make a list of bands that would be acceptable for a fourth grade girl. Have any ideas?

Can you give some examples of musicians she already likes?

Honestly, I don't know. Apparently all she listens to is her mother's show tunes. Nothing wrong with that, but not too many fourth graders listen to show tunes.

The Beatles are good for everyone.

I was into Simon and Garfunkel and Cat Stevens at that age.

Maybe soundtracks to recent kids movies?

Are you talking about rock? Or just popular music in general?

I think more rock. I'm not positive though. Anything would be great.

Jump 5 is a fun pop group... A lot of elementary age kids seem to like them... and a lot of my students like Hillary Duff, Lindsey Lohan and Kelly Clarkson...

If she likes showtunes, I don't know why her mom would want to push her in another direction. There's nothing wrong with showtunes!

I can't think of any rock groups right now that I would let a 9-10 year old girl listen to. I'm pretty conservative... But there are some good Christian bands I could steer her toward... I don't guess that's what you're looking for is it?

I agree..I like showtunes, but then again, I'm kind of a drama nerd. Honestly, I think Christian bands would be fine, as long as they sound..rockish and not totally Hallelujah'd out or anything. Not that there's anothing wrong with that, but I'm just not sure if that's what they're looking for.
